Who doesn't love the writer/illustrator Edward Gorey ??

My brother had a Gashlycrumb Tinies poster when I was younger and you could admire it all day long.  It was artistic yet clever, macabre yet childish.  Just look at poor little Basil.  Awww.  Bear assaults are too cute!!!

A few years ago I found a collection of Gorey's illustrated work online, in paperback, and in large print format.

Translation:  Hella Cheap Wall Posters.

Edward Gorey: The New Poster Book is a LARGE FORMAT softcover book (10" x 15") and filled with Gorey illustrations printed on heavy poster stock, perfect for framing. Sold on Amazon for under $18!

This poster book contains over 30 illustrations spanning work from Gorey's own books, as well as cover art and page illustrations which Gorey did for other author's works, including those of TS Eliot & HG Wells.

So at about 50 cents per poster, this is a super cheap way to incorporate some fantastic art prints in your home.  And the fantastical, gothic style of Gorey's illustrations translates well for children's rooms AND adult's rooms.  Love it.

I matted and framed several Gorey Posters for my house, and gifted some for friends, and I still have several loose prints at home, waiting for framing/mounting/decoupaging/???

So fantastic!

Nothing beats "original" artwork in your home, but for those of us who can't afford it, this is a unique alternative to buying your Wall Art from TJMaxx.  :)

Do you know of any other large format Poster Books?  I could always use some more.  :)

  1. I LOVE Edward Gorey! I really like the Gashlycrumb Tinies, but my fave was always The Doubtful Guest ("It would carry off objects of which it grew fond,
and protect them by dropping them into the pond").
